We now host regular medieval banquets see Events, where guests are received with a reception of Lindisfarne Mead before being invited to sit at large, fruit-laden, convivial tables to indulge in a gastronomic celebration including spinach pyes, roast sausages, chicken and succulent suckling ‘pigge’, honey-roast vegetables, condiments and sweet Michaelmas Pye – all washed down with flagons of specially made Benedictine ale, fine wine and medieval entertainment! made Benedictine ale, fine wine and medieval entertainment!
We can also arrange bespoke medieval banquets for companies and private bookings – a perfect alternative to the traditional Christmas dinner!
Using bespoke wooden chairs and hand-crafted pottery from the Northumbrian Craft Pottery, the dining room is lit with hundreds of candles to create an amazingly inviting medieval atmosphere. The tables are decorated with apples, oranges and bowls of nuts and the only items of cutlery allowed are the daggers, with drinks served by monks and buxom wenches!
