Blackfriars Medieval Banquets – (Sample Menu)
The year is 1306 and we, the Dominican Monks and Nuns, are delighted to welcome you to the Guest Hall of Blackfriars Friary and to this gastronomic feast. Tonight we will entertain you with a Mead Reception, hearty food including Roast Pigge, sausages, drumsticks, Fine Wine, Strong Ale, lively entertainment, and the famous St Michaelmas Pye! And as tradition dictates, an elegant ring will be hidden within the pye with the lucky recipient surely being the next to wed! Today is a celebration of the bountiful harvest where we pay homage to the natural cycle of birth, life and death!
