The Old Dormitory Meeting Rooms
Blackfriars Old Dormitory Meeting Rooms previously served as the dormitories for the Dominican Friars and are located on the first floor of the 13th century complex where you will find two tranquil, naturally lit meeting rooms (Balcony Room and Cloister View) which are hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the city and look out across trees, grass and the medieval courtyard.
The Balcony Room is the main facility for meetings, presentations and training sessions and can seat up to 40 people theatre style or 30 people boardroom style. The Cloister View can be used for registration, coffee breaks and breakout sessions. Both rooms together happily accommodate 100 standing guests.
Equipment
Standard equipment includes flipchart, TV, OHP and screen which comes complimentary with each package. For digital projectors and specialist equipment, please ask for a quote.
Catering
Whether you’re having a training day, a presentation or a working lunch, all your catering needs will be taken care of from coffees, teas and pastries on arrival to buffet lunches or sit-down restaurant meals – all from the award-winning Blackfriars Restaurant kitchen.
Blackfriars Restaurant was recently voted ‘Best Restaurant in the North East’ by readers of The Observer. It is has an AA Rosette, is listed in the Michelin Guide and is featured in the Which? Good Food Guide and offers a classic but gutsy modern-British menu using local and seasonal ingredients – often straight from the farm.
The main restaurant offers a contemporary and well-priced set lunch menu with an extensive award-winning à la carte menu at night and can cater up to 70 people seated or 100 people standing. Alternatively, fork or finger buffets can be arranged as well as luxurious canapés. See Menus & Wine Lists.
Al Fresco Dining
During the summer, Blackfriars offers outside dining in its sheltered medieval courtyard.
Blackfriars is also famous for its mouth-watering picnics, afternoon cream teas, home-made pastries and a range of exquisite teas and coffees.
Delegate Rate
For just £32.50 per person per day (£27.66 ex VAT), you will have the use of both Cloister View and Balcony Room, with tea, coffee and pastries on arrival, further tea, coffee, water, cordials and fruit throughout day, buffet lunch or sit-down meal in the Restaurant plus complimentary use of OHP, TV and flipchart.
Bespoke Costs
The cost to hire the Old Dormitory Meeting Rooms for the day is just £175.00 (£148.94 ex VAT) which includes complimentary use of OHP, 12” TV & flip chart. Teas, coffee & home-made pastries are £3.95 per person, deli breakfasts from just £7.50, and buffets or sit-down meals in the restaurant starting at £10.50. We will be happy to hire in any other equipment on your behalf. Unless stated, all costs inclusive of VAT.
